The World Freerun Parkour Federation (WFPF) is an international organization dedicated to promoting and supporting the sports of parkour and freerunning. It was founded in 2007 by a group of entrepreneurs and athletes with a shared vision of bringing the parkour community together, promoting the sport on a global scale, and increasing public understanding and appreciation of parkour and freerunning.

Key Aspects of the WFPF:

  1. Events and Competitions

    • WFPF organizes and sponsors competitions, including international events, which showcase the athleticism and creativity of top parkour and freerunning athletes. Their competitions often emphasize both skill and artistic expression, featuring unique obstacle courses and challenges.
  2. Athlete and Community Support

    • WFPF works with athletes around the world, supporting them through sponsorships, training, and exposure. They help athletes gain recognition, providing opportunities to connect with fans and engage with the larger community.
  3. Educational and Certification Programs

    • WFPF offers certifications and educational programs for individuals interested in coaching or teaching parkour and freerunning. They emphasize safety, proper technique, and structured training, ensuring that the growing parkour community maintains high standards of instruction and practice.
  4. Media and Content Creation

    • The WFPF produces a variety of content, including videos, tutorials, and articles, to showcase parkour’s dynamic nature and engage audiences online. Their content helps introduce parkour to a broader audience and inspire newcomers.
  5. Youth Programs and Workshops

    • They also focus on youth engagement through school programs, workshops, and summer camps. By offering structured parkour activities for youth, they promote fitness, confidence, and creativity in younger generations.
  6. Global Reach and Community Building

    • With partnerships and affiliates worldwide, WFPF has a significant global presence. They work to unify the parkour community across different countries, supporting diverse groups and promoting the sport’s core values of freedom, creativity, and resilience.

The WFPF has become one of the most recognized organizations within the parkour world, bridging the gap between grassroots practitioners and mainstream recognition. Its efforts to structure, promote, and protect the parkour community have helped shape the sport’s development globally.
